Palazzo Hotel Rosegarden Restaurant Extension Fourways, Johannesburg
This exclusive hotel wanted to extend their function offering by taking advantage of their beautiful Rose Garden. The intervention was to be in line with the architecture of the hotel, whilst sensitively intervening into an established garden. This was done through retaining as much as possible of the existing planting, and building sensitively around it. We installed a skylight that runs the length of the restaurant in order to be able to keep the existing creeper alive.
I was the on-site project architect. We had to navigate issues such as working around existing vines; not having much site area (as we could not extend into the adjacent walkway) and the working hours had to be compatible with the hotel guests needs. The project was highly successful and the venue has become one of the sought after venues in Johannesburg.
